Gene's interest started in the paranormal as a third grader. While reading a book detailing famous ghost pictures the teacher informed him that ghosts are not real and that he should spend his "time on something real". At that point, he remembers thinking to himself "I will show her." Now, some 35 years later, he is still trying to "show her".
Gene founded Buckeye State Paranormal and Haunting Investigators, LLC (BSPHI) in 2004 after doing independent research for almost 3 decades. BSPHI takes a no nonsense approach to paranormal investigations. If you show them a picture of an 'orb', they are going to tell you it is dust, however, unlike many other groups they are going to give you the science behind why it is dust; they will explain to you the Huygens-Fresnel principle. If you show them a picture with the face of a ghost in a mirror and they will explain to you pareidolia. If you tell them that everyday at a certain time your house starts to shake they will apply "Occam's Razor" and search for a logical explanation.
BSPHI has stepped away, except in emergencies, from doing private cases and has evolved into specializing in large locations such as business, battle fields, schools and museums. The real love of the group is working with not for profits. By using the media interest currently surrounding the paranormal field they are able to give not for profits, such as museums, a huge boost in visitors and membership. In these tough economic times the more visitors a location can get the more donations- which is the life blood of these organizations.
The Buckeye State Paranormal and Haunting Investigators, LLC is a limited liability corporation, they are bonded, their logos are registered trademarks and they are the first paranormal group accepted to the Ohio Association of Historical Societies and Museums. BSPHI has been featured numerous times in magazines, books and on television. BSPHI publishes a paranormal newsletter that focuses on the science aspects of the paranormal.
Gene has given presentations to the public at libraries, schools and conferences for years and is looking forward to speaking at the Second Annual Ohio Paranormal Convention.
