The Ohio State Reformatory (AKA Mansfield Reformatory) began construction in 1886 and was completed in 1896, ceased operations in 1990 and is now maintained by the Mansfield Reformatory Preservation Society. Hollywood has utilized portions of the prison for 4 blockbuster movies such as Air Force One, Tango and Cash, and most famously The Shawshank Redemption. Lil' Wayne's Go DJ and Godsmack's Awake videos were filmed here as well, along with many other features.
In the paranormal research world the reformatory has been the subject of interest by SyFy's Ghost Hunters, Fox's Scariest Places on Earth, and most recently Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures.
This imposing structure is located 2 miles outside Mansfield Ohio and features 3 types of architectural influence as well as the Guinness World Record for tallest freestanding steel structure with a six-tier steel cell block.
You will have free roam of the prison August 20th 2010 from 10pm to 3am.
This event is open to individuals 21 years of age and up only.
