Rie Sadler is not only an author, but she is also a founding member of EPR, Eastern Paranormal Research, in Accokeek, Maryland, as well as the case manager for PRISMd, Paranormal Research and Investigation Society of Maryland, in Catonsville. In addition to a number of private residences & businesses, Rie has investigated such places as the Lizzie Borden House, the Dr. Samuel Mudd House, Waverly Hills Sanatorium, various locations in Williamsburg and Jamestown, Virginia, the former West Virginia State Penitentiary, Eastern State Penitentiary, Fort Mifflin, Burlington County Jail, USS Salem, the Shanley Hotel, as well as locations in Gettysburg like the Jennie Wade House and the former Orphange, just to name a few. She volunteers her time at Point Lookout Lighthouse, one of the most haunted lighthouses in America, several times throughout the year in hosting other groups that wish to conduct investigations of the premises.
A native Annapolitan, Rie’s first book, Ghosts of Maryland’s Western Shore, is due out in 2010-2011 with a second currently untitled book to follow shortly thereafter. Her first book covers stories and legends of the supernatural from the western shores of the Chesapeake Bay, including Annapolis, Baltimore, Ellicott City, and many other locations. A former features writer for Capital-Gazette Newspapers, Rie has wanted to capture the tales of the supernatural that lie in her own backyard in book form for as long as she can remember. These stories, combined with her love of history, fueled her passion for paranormal research and she feels fortunate to have worked with a number of fellow investigators from across the country.
Her lectures run the gamut, covering everything from death and mourning in art, mourning practices in Victorian times, to haunts of the Old Line state, the history of EVP research, as well as ways paranormal investigators can give back to their communities. She tries to vary each lecture and enjoys covering a wide variety of topics that relate to the paranormal and the surrounding fields.
